Before Father Serra overstayed his welcome, there were two waves of immigration into the Antelope Valley. We know this because of the difference in hunting tools. The second aggressive and technically more proficiant wave filled in the Great Western Basin and with them a spoken adaption of the Uto-Aztecan language. The above maps show the trade routes between these different but related groups.
