You’ll like this

A Good Hello,

What a long strange trip it’s been since the writing of my first blog post, some thirty-five years ago.  Smudgy typewritten pages taped together to float about the neighborhood gathering comments. Sheets pasted end to end of commentary attached to the Head like a Chinese dragon came back to me.

This is the machine I used.

So many things have happened that I didn’t expect ever would. Mainly nothing, only the unsuspected unexpecteds have occurred to jar me awake from a luscious sleep.

I became a grandmother.

I met a girl.

I fell in love.

I became an activist.

I went intergarlictic.

I became a queen.

What a shock. Why, the whole thing is absurd. I think I feel a dramatic scene coming on. Yes. Yes. I feel it.

Can you feel it too?

A thirty-fiver (35′r) is a lot of years and money and booze.

(forget that thing about the booze- I’m trying to be Raymonda Chandler right here)

The liquor was cheap and so were the men. I don’t know, were they? Nobody’s that cheap except my father.

(forget the thing about the men)

It’s time to R.S.V.P.

and find out what you mean to me.

  1. How would it be to write blog posts on wrinting machines such like that one in the first photo? I think it would be a nice experience.

  2. Congratulations–and ohhhhh! what a pretty baby. Have a royally good time.

  3. Oh, you came this –this — close to making me part with $35. But if there’s anything cheaper than liquor and men and your father, it’s me.

  4. It’s no use, you can’t sweet talk me into it.

  5. Linking to this tomorrow, dahlink.

  6. You have indeed been on a short strange trip (on the heels of a longer one). I will be there in spirit – unless you can sneak me in as one of the servers walking around with a tray on their head. Think Carmen Miranda with cock tails instead of bananas. I’m also handy with a dish cloth.

  7. Cheap cheap, oh the drama!

  8. No film at 11? I hope it was a great success. I’m sure it was, I saw the photos. Lovelies the lot

  9. Yes! Thank you. It was a great success and so much fun to spend an afternoon with so many charming and unique people of the Dah and the Doo.

  10. I am so sorry I missed this! I read about it at Petrea’s place just as it was happening. My loss. With such an exceptional introduction, it must have been fabulous. So fun seeing some highlights from the last 35 years. I applaud you!

  11. You’ve come a long way, baby!!! Of course, you left out that fantastically unforgettable moment when you met me…
